Q: How do I use the Floppy disk drive?

A: The method, described below, is for those who have some familiarity with Unix. Be sure to bring IBM-PC formatted floppy disks. (You cannot format floppy disks on CQUEST workstations.)

From a Unix shell (window), you will need to do the following to mount the Floppy disk:

Now you can read/write to the floppy disk just like would to the hard disk. (Use the "cp command to copy files between the floppy and hard disks.)

From the Unix shell (window), you need to do the following to remove a Floppy disk:

Please note that you must issue the umount and mount commands
EACH TIME you CHANGE floppy disks.

Please remember that any programs downloaded to your CQUEST account that you plan to use on the CQUEST workstations MUST be linux versions. Windows or DOS software will not work.
