to the "Trash" folder.
Be sure to remember to "Empty the Trash Folder"!
- For Pine, in index mode or message mode, select the message, mark
the message for deletion by pressing the "D" Key. Remember
to say yes if you are prompted to confirm deletion of marked
messages when you exit pine or close the folder.
- If you send a lot of messages or a few large messages, be sure
to check your "Draft, Unsent, Post-phoned or Sent-mail folders.
By default, Netscape Mail and Pine, will save a copy of outgoing messages
that are sent or forwarded. You might want to delete some of
these messages.
- Check your home directory for any old files that you do not need.
Files like your output from previous assignments. You will need
to do this from a unix shell window. A unix shell icon should be available
on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. If the icon is not there,
the simplest way to open a Unix window is to click start button on the toolbar
and choose "New Shell". You will need to one or more these basic
unix commands to remove files.
- "cd" - changes to the named directory. ("cd mail
" will change the mail directory.)
- "ls" - provides a directory listing of the current
directory. ("ls -l" will provide a detailed directory listing.)
- "man" - displays the manual page of the named command.
("man man" will display information about the man command.)
- "rm" - deletes the named file(s). ("rm foo
" will delete the file named foo.)
You are responsible for keeping your disk usage below your assigned limits.
Failure to do so, will mean that you WILL NOT be able to login on
theCQUEST workstations at the sites.
